PJ’s Hometown Cafe opened on 12th and Belmont Streets in Hood River in July. Owner Paula Ruth has always dreamed of having her own café. When the owner of the building asked Ruth if she wanted to start a restaurant there, she said she couldn’t refuse. She saw “a void that needed to be filled in the Heights” for traditional breakfast meals and hopes that her new restaurant will help fill this gap.

Say hello to your new favorite summer bowl. A colorful, satisfying dish by registered dietitian Sarah Harper featuring roasted sweet potatoes, corn, black beans, and tomatoes—all tied together with a smoky southwest yogurt dressing. Easy to prep and endlessly customizable.

What began as a food truck in The Dalles has simmered into something much more permanent—and just as flavorful. Kimberly Gibson, owner of The Cauldron Cafe in Hood River, is serving up hearty soups, sandwiches, and comfort food favorites with a creative twist. Born and raised in the Gorge, Gibson brings a big dose of local heart to her menu and her mission: create a warm, welcoming spot where good food and community go hand in hand.
