Thursday tidbits

So much for spring, it was a nice two days we had there! We have apparently jumped straight into summer and skipped the wet/hot/cool/repeat season. Here’s our weekly list of tidbits to keep you well-cooled, well-fed, and well-hydrated.
 Events

• On Saturday, May 20 pFriem Family Brewers and Grasslands Barbecue will host a Summer Barbecue at pFriem’s Cascade Locks facility. There will be three different sessions, starting at 11am, 1:30pm, and 4pm. Tickets are not necessary, but recommended. 
• Molly Schwarz will be the emcee tonight at the Hood River Adopt a Dog Sweet Sixteen Benefit Party at The Ruins, starting at 5:30pm and featuring local band Greenneck Daredevils. There will be BIG raffle prizes (new SUP anyone?), and of course, a huge array of silent auction items generously donated by so many of the vendors you know and love throughout the Columbia River Gorge. 
• Try the new Piscatorial Pale Ale at the Freebridge Brewing release party tonight.
• The annual Memorial Day/Anniversary Sale at Maryhill Winery starts this weekend and runs through June 11.
• The Gorge Grown Harvest Dinner is scheduled for June 15 at 4pm, at Mt. View Orchards. Guests will enjoy delicious courses prepared by Executive Chef Ben Stenn of Celilo Restaurant & Bar. Featured wineries include AniChe Cellars, Grateful Vineyards, Gorge Crest Vineyards, and Hawkins Cellars.
• Jacob Williams Winery is hosting their May Wine Club release party this weekend at their Wishram tasting room.

Other Tidbits

• Kickstand Coffee & Kitchen has a cool new drinks menu for summer. Personally, I can’t wait to try the Blood Orange Margarita.
• Celilo just added some delicious small plates to their Happy Hour menu. Finish your day with some cauliflower croquettes with romesco and creamy cauliflower sauce, potato and cojita cheese empanadas with tomatillo salsa, and marinated and grilled beef skewers with scallion ginger dipping sauce.
• Cooper Spur Mountain Resort and the Crooked Tree Tavern and Grill will reopen today! The resort is looking absolutely breathtaking as spring takes hold. The Restaurant will be open normal hours: 8am-8pm Thurs-Mondays.
• Starting June 1 until August 31, Mount Hood BBQ will be at The Ruins every Tuesday and Thursday night, and back at the 1301 Belmont location Friday through Sunday. Follow their Facebook page to stay up to date on their movements!
