The heat just keeps coming... here's a list of what's open and closed today, June 28, 2021 (Monday).

Riverside is open but plan ahead. The restaurant does not take reservations or call-ins to be added to the waitlist. Last night, the wait for 4 at 7 p.m. was about an hour. However, the bar is first come-first serve with a limited menu. We were able to grab a table there in about 5 minutes and several others opened up while we were eating. Service was slow since there was just one server for the bar, but that's probably going to be the case just about everywhere. Many places in the Gorge are experiencing staffing shortages.

With highs in the hundreds this weekend, here's how local business are adapting:

Red Carpet has installed misters and is advertising $5 Bloody Mary's.
Boda's Kitchen will close at 7 p.m. tonight and 2 p.m. tomorrow. It will remain closed.
The following businesses are closed starting Friday and continuing through the weekend: Cor, Pour Girls Espresso, Packer Orchards Farm (not Bakery -- the bakery will be open on limited hours).
The Downwinder will be serving up food Friday but will be closed Saturday and Sunday.
Pfriem and Wheel's Hood River will be serving up special, limited menus this weekend, designed to keep their staff members from getting too hot.
The Gorge White House expects to be open. They aren't sure if the food truck will be. Pacos Tacos also plans to be open, as does Grasslands BBQ (the new BBQ truck in the parking lot behind Ferment), and Common House.
Fish People Seafood will be offering special discounts. Make sure to mention the code "THEOCEANSAREBOILING."
Cerulean Wine is closing at 2 p.m. Saturday and will remain closed Sunday.

First look: Columbia gorge crepes

Opened May 1, Columbia Gorge Crepes serves sweet and savory crepes. Think ham, egg, and cheddar OR strawberry, banana and Nutella. Find a full copy of the menu, with descriptions, below.

Current hours: Daily 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Closed Wednesdays.

Address: near Pacos Tacos and Hood River Cinemas. If you put 5 5th St, Hood River, OR 97031, in your GPS, you'll find it.

Hood river common house now open

Hood River's newest bottle house and hangout spot is open: Hood River Common House. The establishment is owned by the same family that own's Mike's Ice Cream, which is kitty-corner to the bottle shop. Mike's sons run the bottle shop, which serves beer, wine, cider, and snacks.
Bottles are available to enjoy on premises or take home. Draft beer and wine by the glass are also available, as are boozy popsicles and beer/cider floats. Find more information and a current tap menu and food menu at hoodrivercommonhouse.com.
