Thursday Tidbits–Christmas Day Edition

Gorges Tortes raw vegan strawberry cake

Gorge’s Tortes Raw Vegan Strawberry Cake

This Christmas Day, we’re wishing you a very Merry Christmas and keeping Thursday Tidbits simple.

Today’s notes are few, thoughtful, and shared in the spirit of the season, beginning with gratitude. We’re thinking of the bakers who start early, the farmers and growers who shape each season, the cooks, servers, and baristas who keep showing up, and the food makers who pour so much care into what they create — especially today.

A Holiday Beauty

Gorge’s Tortes raw vegan strawberry cake layers soft marzipan and refreshing strawberry jello with a silky white chocolate cream, finished with handmade strawberry cones, fragrant rosemary, and dried rosehips. Thoughtful, beautiful, and full of care. Now taking orders for New Year’s Eve — Message directly to order.

A Winter Pint

From Ferment Brewing Co.: For those who like their winter pints bold, roasted, and rooted in PNW hops, Doug the Dark Ale — their take on a Cascadian Dark Ale — is back for the season.

A Handy Stop

Pearl’s Place Fruit has its self-serve fruit stand open for the next few weeks, stocked with 3-lb bags of apples and pears, plus canned peaches and pears. The drop box is checked daily, with restocks twice a week — an easy pantry stop if you’re running low.

If You’re Stepping Out Tonight

For those looking to get away for a bit this evening (Christmas Day), Kickstand Coffee & Kitchen will be open from 4 pm to 9 pm for drinks and a change of scenery. As always, we recommend checking directly for hours before heading out.

Wherever today finds you, we hope it’s filled with warmth, good food + drink, good company, and moments that nourish.

Warm wishes and gratitude,
Hood River Eats
