Just in Time for the Weekend: HalloWine Walk, Fall Menus & New Sips
Thursday Tidbits took an extra day to brew this week, so we’re serving up Friday Finds! There’s plenty to catch up on, from tomorrow’s HalloWine Walk to new coffee stops, squash-topped pizza, warming bowls, and a few spooky sips around the Gorge.
HalloWine Walk comes to downtown Hood River
Oak Street gets a little haunted this Saturday, October 24, with the HalloWine Walk! Gather your favorite people, pick a costume, and spend the afternoon visiting ten stops featuring ten Gorge wineries, carved pumpkins, and a stamp card to fill along the way. Cheers to 13 years at Thunder Island
Thunder Island Brewing and Green Heart Herbal Co. are celebrating 13 years on Saturday, October 24, from 1–6 PM. Stop by Thunder Island in Cascade Locks and help them mark the occasion with fresh hop beer, herbal goods and Le Moine’s French Bakery baked goods.
Two new dishes at Henni’s
Henni’s Kitchen & Bar is bringing more fall produce to the table with a grilled cabbage wedge salad topped with crispy breadcrumbs and fried capers, plus roasted acorn squash with burrata and sage butter.
Meet L.A Matcha
There’s a new tea truck in town! Find L.A Matcha by the old Little Bit Ranch Supply building at 2727 Cascade Avenue in Hood River. A Pumpkin Spice Matcha, served hot or iced, seems like a good place to start. You can add one of several cold foam flavors as well. Hours: Wed. - Sun. 7 am to 5 pm.
Autumn Harvest returns to Double Mountain
Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery is bringing back its Autumn Harvest pizza: a white pie with mozzarella, thinly sliced butternut squash, prosciutto, and fresh sage, finished with Maldon sea salt and extra virgin olive oil. A little sweet, a little salty, and a very good reason for pizza night.
A new home for Kaile’a Coffee
Kaile’a Coffee has opened a brick-and-mortar spot in Cascade Locks! Say hello to Abide Coffeehouse & Market, at 101 WaNaPa Street, and stop in to check out the new space over a cup of coffee. Mon.-Tues. 6 am -4pm; Wed.-Sun. 8 am - 4 pm.
Pumpkin cold foam at River Daze
River Daze Café is pairing Hood River Coffee Roasters’ organic French roast cold brew with pumpkin cold foam for a seasonal caffeine fix. Stop by Monday–Friday, 8 AM–3 PM, or Saturday–Sunday, 8 AM–4 PM.
Warming bowls at Love & Hominy
Love & Hominy is introducing Pozole Verde and welcoming back Chana Masala, just in time for cooler days. There’s also a new lineup of fall cocktails to try alongside your meal.
An autumn cocktail at Riverside
Riverside Restaurant’s new Grandpa Alexander cocktail combines Old Delicious Apple Brandy, Giffard Crème de Cacao, cream, and a dash of nutmeg. Prefer a beer? New on tap are Spinning Wheels’ Kingdom Shtout dry Irish stout, Kings & Daughters’ Queens and Sons soft IPA, and pFriem’s Oktoberfest German lager.
Something Spooky at Solstice
Solstice Pizza has Something Spooky on the menu through Halloween weekend. This seasonal cocktail combines Cazadores Blanco tequila, activated charcoal-infused orange liqueur, organic lime, and pineapple juice, with a black salt rim and fresh marigold petals…
New menu, new beer at Everybody’s
Everybody’s Brewing is settling into fall with a new menu and a seasonal winter beer to go with it: a Fall Harvest Salad featuring roasted squash, Gorgonzola, pecans, and brandy apples; a Sneaky Stout Reuben, also available as a mushroom-kale veggie version; a Brandy Apple Burger; and Gochujang Chicken served with coconut rice and veggies. All are available for dine-in or takeout.
There’s a new seasonal beer, too: Imaginary Friends, hopped with Centennial, Chinook, Amarillo, Mosaic, and Motueka. Find it on draft and in 16-ounce cans.
A Poutine stop at The Chicken Truck
Also at the old Little Bit Ranch Supply building at 2727 Cascade Avenue in Hood River, The Chicken Truck is serving up fried chicken poutine! Catch them there before they head to the Hood River County Fairgrounds for this weekend’s craft fair—the poutine is going with them, so you can get your fix there, too.
