Thursday Tidbits
A new year, a cozy winter week, and plenty happening around the Gorge. From pasta night and ramen bowls to winter IPAs, fresh fruit deals, and Dry January–friendly sips, this week’s Thursday Tidbits rounds up what’s cooking, pouring, and worth seeking out right now.
Thursdays are for pasta at Apple Valley Barbecue (Parkdale). Tonight! A comforting bed of Fettuccine Alfredo topped with shrimp—exactly what a winter evening calls for.
Over at Celilo Restaurant (Hood River), there’s plenty to tempt you tonight as well. Dessert features a coffee pot de crème paired with marcona olive oil biscotti and chantilly whipped cream, while dinner brings ramen to the table: Shio, a clear and silky broth, or Tonkatsu, rich, thick, and spicy.
In The Dalles, The Riv Café is loving this New Year swap:
-Keto Scramble
-Honey almond syrup (refined sugar-free)
No sacrifice and all the flavor!
Need a rainy-afternoon pick-me-up? Riverside Restaurant hosts happy hour daily from 3 to 5 PM, making it the perfect excuse to grab a drink and cozy up.
Kaile’a Coffee Co. is back with new winter hours: Monday 7 AM–4 PM, Tuesday through Saturday 8 AM–4 PM, and closed Sundays. You’ll find them at 101 WaNaPa Street in Cascade Locks.
Fresh fruit news: Pearl’s Place Fruit (Hood River) just restocked 3-pound bags of apples and pears for $3 each. You’ll also find canned peaches and pears, plus a few hazelnut goodies on the shelves.
Hood River asked, and Big Jim’s Drive In delivered. The Baby Burger is back—Big Jim’s style—and available exclusively through January 31, 2026, at the Hood River location.
For beer lovers, Working Hands Fermentation has the return of the Yeti, its winter IPA, delivering bold pine resin and grapefruit bitterness, balanced by a strong caramel malt backbone and a touch of sweetness.
Whether you’re doing Dry January or not, Full Sail Brewing has expanded its drink list to include both mocktails and cocktails. New non-alcoholic options include the Spiced Pear Ginger Ale, Cran-Mary Fizz, and Blood Orange Lemonade—ask about the Green Tea Not Toddy, too. On the cocktail side, look for the Sugar & Spice Lemon Drop, Ginger Pear Mule, and Spirited Cran-Mary Fizz.
And a few more fun menu notes from around the Gorge:
Solstice Wood Fire Pizza (Hood River) has cheesy bread back on the menu.
Feast Market & Delicatessen (White Salmon) has refreshed their dinner offerings with shareable “small” plates—some not so small after all.
Baseline Biscuits (Parkdale) has mornings covered Thursday through Monday from 7 AM to 2 PM, including the mountain monster burrito for those heading uphill.
And Double Mountain Brewery (Hood River) is serving the Resolution Pie, topped with spinach, shredded mozzarella, kalamata olives, cremini mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and fire-roasted red peppers.
We sincerely thank you for following along with us!
