Pine Street Bakery - Peach Challah Cinnamon Roll
The Columbia River Gorge is settling into late summer, bringing fresh peaches, seasonal desserts, new beers, and plenty of reasons to head out for a bite. With smoky conditions changing throughout the day, many restaurants and tasting rooms are offering cool indoor spaces to relax. As always, check with your destination before heading out, and here's what's happening around the Gorge this week.
Cool Places & Summer Sips
Solstice Pizza is serving Frosé inside, where the air is cool and clear. They also have fresh peaches on their pizza special for a few more days, plus peach margaritas available for another month. Open daily from 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m.
Ferment Brewing has two new additions to its summer beer lineup:
I 💚 Nelson, a hazy IPA featuring Nelson Sauvin hops with notes of passionfruit and gooseberry.
Queen of Persica, a refreshing peach sour ale brewed with Northwest peaches and a delicate Hüll Melon dry hop.
Volcanic Bottle Shoppe in Hood River Heights has Love Your Body, a gluten-free Mexican Lager from Ground Breaker Brewing, available in its coolers. It's currently the only place in Hood River carrying it.
Full Sail Brewing is pouring an extensive lineup of IPAs, from clean, crisp West Coast brews to juicy hazy IPAs and a robust Imperial IPA. Pair one with lunch or dinner and sample your way through the lineup.
Late Summer Bites & Treats
Pine Street Bakery is showcasing a peach challah cinnamon roll filled with cinnamon-nutmeg brown sugar butter and topped with cream cheese frosting and local peaches from Paasch Orchards.
Grasslands Barbecue will be closed Friday but returns Saturday and Sunday with smoked brisket boudin sausages as this weekend's special.
Pixán Tacos in White Salmon, WA, has a lovely street corn appetizer on the menu right now.
Backwoods Brewing in Carson, WA, is serving a dreamy and creamy New York-style lemon cheesecake with graham cracker crust, whipped cream, and lemon curd.
Cousin's Restaurant & Saloon in The Dalles has brought back its seasonal Strawberry "Tall" Cake—stacked homemade biscuits, fresh marinated strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and a towering heap of real whipped cream. It's only around for the summer.
What’s New In Hood River
Cork Wine Shop in Hood River Heights has moved to its new location, right next door. Stop by this Thursday through Saturday from noon–7 p.m., and keep an eye out for details on their upcoming grand opening celebration. Now at 1108 12th St.
Bran & Ash has more than bread. Browse local herbs, fresh noodles, tinned fish, and other pantry finds while you're there. 112 7th Street.
Dani's Kitchen returns with another pop-up this Friday, August 7, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Look for peach huckleberry pies, mini dahlia cakes, decorated cookies, fresh baked treats, the kids' lemonade stand (bring cash!), candles from Hood River Candle Co., and cards and gifts from Found & Rewound. 1545 Osprey Drive off Tucker Road.
